Trump’s Tiny Little Hands Were Too Small To Hold The Rifle Overhead Like Moses At The NRA Did! Sad.

Donald J. Trump has been constantly lying and saying for months that “Hillary Clinton wants to take away your guns and abolish the Second Amendment… Crooked Hillary Clinton is the most anti-gun, anti-Second Amendment candidate ever to run for office.” It got major attention Friday when he said it to the NRA Convention, where he shockingly received their endorsement. For good measure, Trump added in another uncontested lie that Hillary wants to open up all the jails and let the murderers out (particularly the black ones just like Willie Horton, seen here, from the Bush-Dukakis era) so they can come and rape your women before they murder again… and you’ll be defenseless, just the way she wants it, because she’ll already have confiscated your gun. The sickest part of this is that, as usual, most of the reporting of the speech (excepted here) quickly mentions Trump is factually wrong but gives him credit for pushing the lie to his followers and white trash in the middle of Pennsylvania or in Ohio, etc. This is major-league Hitler/Goebbels-like demagoguery. Lie upon lie, accusing the opponent of dictator-like intentions when Trump is the one guaranteeing a Wall, rounding up 11 million+, excluding people from the country based on their religion only, and threatening US companies while practically promising an international trade war… as he encourages nuclear proliferation. One question: what kind of paranoid person believes anyone, including the President, can “abolish” the Second (or any) Amendment. That can’t happen under our Constitution, has never happened…. and we need to look more soberly at the candidate who has drilled down into an authoritarian, racist, nationalistic psyche that represents a bigger slice of America than we thought. Before the Great American Democratic Experiment is damaged beyond repair, please.

Adam Gopnik in The New Yorker, 5/20:

If Trump came to power, there is a decent chance that the American experiment would be over. This is not a hyperbolic prediction; it is not a hysterical prediction; it is simply a candid reading of what history tells us happens in countries with leaders like Trump. Countries don’t really recover from being taken over by unstable authoritarian nationalists of any political bent, left or right—not by Peróns or Castros or Putins or Francos or Lenins or fill in the blanks. The nation may survive, but the wound to hope and order will never fully heal. Ask Argentinians or Chileans or Venezuelans or Russians or Italians—or Germans. The national psyche never gets over learning that its institutions are that fragile and their ability to resist a dictator that weak. If he can rout the Republican Party in a week by having effectively secured the nomination, ask yourself what Trump could do with the American government if he had a mandate.

Obama’s Tears

I’ll never forget being in the WBT studios on December 14, 2012. We had just come back from lunch (Showmars, if I recall correctly) and we were looking at preliminary reports of a shooting at a school in Connecticut. Even in 2012, school shootings were so frequent that we didn’t interrupt programming for all of them

Then, it began to look like there were a lot of bodies. Bodies of children

We interrupted the Rush Limbaugh show as the host was making some brilliant point about Hillary Clinton’s purse or something and we immediately heard from listeners that we should go back to Limbaugh. “Rush already told us about this. He said Obama would use this as a gun grab”

I don’t have a huge ego, but I’ve always considered myself to be pretty good on-the-air during “breaking news” situations. Back in the 90s, I used to live on the coast and got pretty adept at gathering information and disseminating it quickly when hurricanes were coming our way. That experience proved invaluable on 9/11 when I helped get out information when I was working for WKZL. Something about the situation brought out the best in me. I don’t know if it was adrenaline or what, but I got the sense that what I was doing was helping people and that made me work even harder

Remember Obama’s speech after Newtown?

The usual calm, placid demeanor gave way to emotion. 20 children and 6 adults had been killed. Adam Lanza had actively sought out the most vulnerable people he could find and he slaughtered them. Obama wasn’t just speaking as our president that day. He was a father. It was personal

He cried again on Tuesday

These were tears of frustration and despair. We didn’t do anything after Newtown. Nothing. Nada. Zip. The New York Times detailed a story about how Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) worked with the NRA and got them to agree to some background checks and other simple measures that get about 65-70% approval when the American people are polled. Then, some groups to the right of the NRA got wind of the negotiations and sent out flaming e-mails telling NRA members that they were about to get “sold out”. The NRA got nasty messages from some of their members and Senator Manchin suddenly had problems getting phone calls returned

So, we did nothing

It wore on Manchin, too

I could go on social media in about 4 seconds and find people mocking Obama for crying. I’m sure Trump will question his manhood by dinnertime. Heck, to be honest, I’m sick of tears, myself

But, if you think you’re sick of the tears, what about the Newtown families. Or the Aurora families. Or Virginia Tech. Surely, tears won’t solve anything, but maybe, just maybe, it’s the show of emotion that shows us we can’t do this anymore. We can’t chalk it up to the “price of freedom” when children get shot and killed. We can’t just shrug our shoulders. We can’t just point to the 2nd Amendment and go on with our day. Surely, if we aren’t smart enough, willing enough, able enough to make sure that we can balance responsible gun ownership with sensible steps to protect our citizens, then what has this grand experiment been for anyway?

I’m sure that once we’re finished with the tears, we’ll come together and get this done. We’ll find a way. We’ve done it before. We haven’t lost the ability to find solutions, have we?

Now that thought makes me want to cry

Happiness is a Warm Gun carved from a 4.5 billion-year-old African meteorite…

You lucked out if you held back on buying winter clothing this Christmas because the weather was so warm.  You saved your money and now can step in there and bid on an eternal, practical gift for yourself.  An instant family heirloom/treasure that represents the very essence of our existence on Planet Earth.Screen shot 2015-12-29 at 10.04.52 AMThe firearm maker Cabot announced on December 16th that it would construct a set of extraterrestrial pistols made from a 4.5 billion-year-old meteorite that was first discovered in the sub-Saharan part of Africa in 1838. Iowa Republican evangelical voters, for instance, will have to choose between the literal interpretation of the Bible that says the earth is around 6000 years old and the gun company that is touting scientific “facts” that date the meteorite just a bit older.  In this case, you’ve got to go with Cabot.  The integrity of gun manufacturers and their lobbying arm, the NRA, towers over anything else… the Bible included.  That hurdle is settled.

From Cabot’s own PR release:  “It’s both romantic and fascinating to imagine that this meteor traveled across the heavens for four billion years before landing on Earth and is now being transformed into Cabot pistols,” states company president and founder Rob Bianchin.  Cabot will display a sampling of gun Screen shot 2015-12-29 at 10.10.08 AMcomponents made from meteorite at the SHOT Show in Las Vegas, the industry’s major trade show from Jan 19 to 22, 2016. The Big Bang Pistol Set will make their public debut during the NRA Annual Meeting and Convention in Louisville, KY, in May.

I’m not sure it could get any sexier than this as you add to your arsenal protecting you from Obama’s Confiscator Goonsquads and invading ISIS guys. You’ll feel so much better getting your brains blown out with this beauty than with a cheapo handgun…. if you order now we’ll send you a third SpaceAge Metal Monster free!  The luxurious storage cases have been meticulously fashioned out of wood harvested from the desks at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Connecticut where 20 kids and 6 adults gave their lives in 2012 defending our precious Second Amendment rights.  The cases are tastefully upholstered in authentically-bloodstained velour grabbed from seats in the Century 16 theater in Aurora, Colorado where just a few months earlier 12 brave movie-going souls also died in defense of gun rights.

Forbes.com reminds us  “A few years ago, another Cabot Guns pistol set, ‘The Left and the Right,’ featuring Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Piers Morgan, and Ted Nugent, made headlines.”

If It’s a Day That Ends in “Y”, We’ve Got a Mass Shooting

Earlier this week, a lot of conservative media had a field day when the president said mass shootings don’t happen in other countries

Breitbart had fun with it

Breitbart

Maybe not as funny as continuing to name your website after a guy who died three-and-a-half years ago, but, whatever. CNS News chortled. PJ Media guffawed. Michelle Malkin’s Twitchy busted a gut

Then, Wednesday came

NYTimesSanBernardino

I guess we’re done laughing now

I love this country so much. I love it for the opportunity it’s given me and I love what we’ve done throughout history. I don’t like it when people say we’re crippled. I think Americans are pretty loving, exceptional people…except when we’re not

But, we won’t do anything about this. Or the next one. Or the one after that. I hate that about us. i hate that we won’t do a damn thing about this and just make a mental checklist (gotta be careful when you go to government offices…or schools…or malls…or anywhere)

So, if the “Make America Great Again” crowd wants to mean something, really mean something, do something about this. Stop the BS about “taking away our guns” and let people run this country and not special interests

Or just keep droning on about walls and throwing brown people into vans
